1.  What is the difference between Athlete's Database and Weightmania?

Weightmania tracks workouts, nutrition, measurements, diabetes and general health (such as blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol).  It's designed to track and analyze a wide range of things related to health and fitness.  Athlete's Database tracks the same things, with more emphasis on tracking workouts and nutrition. Both products have the same core features.

2.  Can I install my desktop software on more than one computer?

Yes! You can install any CD-based or downloadable version of Weightmania Pro or Athlete's Database on up to two computers that you own or that are under your control. To use the software on an unlimited number of computers, we recommend subscribing to an online, web-based version.

3.  Can I get the Mac version for free if I own the Windows version (or vice-versa)?

Each version must be purchased separately, but the second is only $19.99. You must purchase the full version for one operating system, but you only need to purchase an upgrade for the second. Call or email us to receive a special activation code to convert it to the full version. You will receive free upgrades and patches for each version, free unlimited technical support (specific for each operating system), and you can use each version indefinitely (there are no recurring fees).

4.  Is there a user guide or instruction manual for this software?

You can download free, printable user guides from our download page.  Click on the link below to go directly to this page.

Downloads

All of our products also include a simplified user guide built-in. See "Contents..." under the main help menu. There are three main options including "Tips For New Users", "Quick Start Guide" and "Contents...".  The "Contents..." option provides the most comprehensive help.  Topics are organized by category and displayed in a familiar Web-page format.

5.  Is there a version of Weightmania and Athlete's Database for smartphones and tablets?

Weightmania Pro Online, Weightmania Basic Online, and Athlete's Database Online all have a built-in mobile interface. They automatically detect when you're using a smartphone or tablet, then show a version that simulates an app for that device. There is no need to purchase or download a separate app. You can access your account from any iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Mobile device, or any mobile device with a modern web browser.

6.  How do I install the Windows or Mac CD version?

The Windows version is completely automated. Simply insert the CD and wait for installation to begin. On a Mac, drag and drop the folder containing Weightmania on the CD to your desktop or applications folder. You can also do this using copy and paste. NOTE: Do not try to run the MAC version from the CD; remove the CD first before starting this software. Both versions require you to enter the registration/activation code on the back of the package.

7.  Is there a difference between the CD version and the download version?

There is no difference between the download version and CD version. However most people prefer the download version because they can use the software immediately.  We also offer an option to download the software immediately and receive a backup CD by mail.

8.  Are there ways to reduce typing and save time?

a.  You can cut, copy and paste nearly everything including tables, tabs and forms.
b.  Use speed menus (these appear when you right-click on objects with the mouse in Windows or when you hold the control key and press the mouse button on the Mac).
c.  Use drag and drop to copy foods between the meal table and favorites list.
d.  Create predefined meal programs (lets you enter meals for an entire day in one click).
e.  Create predefined workout programs (lets you can enter workouts in one click).
f.  Create a custom food database (lets you enter a foods and nutrients in one click).
g.  Use the input wizard to record food and enter workouts.
h.  Use keyboard short-cuts to access menu options.

9.  My software will not start on Windows. What is wrong?

a.  Most installation problems are caused by downloading an incomplete copy of the software.  If you see a Windows message indicating a database (or unusual) error, try downloading the software again at a later time.

b .  Disable (turn off) any anti-spyware software (our software does not contain spyware, but these applications can cause conflicts). For example, the free anti-spyware provided by AOL blocks or interferes with many commercial applications, including Weightmania Pro.

c.  Make sure you have at least 64 megabytes of free disk space and 128 megabytes of free memory.

d.  Weightmania works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you're running an older version of Windows XP, download and install Windows XP Service Pack 3.  This is available for free from Microsoft's web site. It corrects most issues related to installation and startup.

e.  If you installed Weightmania on Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Vista, but cannot start it, make sure you have full administrator privileges. Try right clicking on the Weightmania desktop shortcut icon, then selecting "Run as Administrator". You can also turn off (disable) User Account Control (UAC). This is a new security feature on Vista that prevents users without administrator privileges from running software.

f .  If you downloaded a file than ends in ".ZIP", it needs to be uncompressed first.  Most computers recognize this extension, but if your computer does not, you can download a free tool to open it from Winzip.com

10.  My software runs too slow on Windows. What is wrong?

If the software runs too slow, make sure you have enough memory and disk space (you need at least 128 MB of free memory). Also, try disabling any anti-spyware software running in the background. This can degrade the performance of many large applications. If the software initially runs fast, then becomes progressively slower, it usually indicates another application is consuming all the available memory.  In our tests, some speech recognition, video and photo editing applications can cause this.  Exit these programs, then restart our software.

11.  My software will not start on macOS, or I see errors on startup. What is wrong?

a.  DO NOT RUN WEIGHTMANIA FROM THE CD OR FROM YOUR DOWNLOADS FOLDER. Install it by dragging the Weightmania folder from the CD (or downloads folder) onto your desktop or applications folder. You can also do this with copy and paste. If you purchased a CD, remove it before starting this software.

b.  Most installation problems are caused by downloading an incomplete copy of our software.  Try downloading the software again when our server is less busy.

c.  If you have trouble starting Weightmania, you may need to download the newest version of Java or upgrade your operating system.  You can download the latest files from Apple using the link below.  The Java upgrade is free.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/softwareupdates.html

12.  My software runs too slow on macOS. What is wrong?

If the software initially runs fast, then becomes progressively slower, this usually indicates another application is consuming all of the available memory.  In our tests, some speech recognition, video and photo editing applications can cause this.  Exit these programs, then restart our software.

13.  How do I remove the Weightmania or Athlete's Database Trial?

a.  On Windows, use the uninstaller provided.  This is located in the Weightmania or Athlete's Database folder accessible from the Windows Start menu.  Alternatively, you can go to to the Windows start menu and select "settings".  Next, select "control panel" then choose "add/remove programs" and remove the demo from the list.  In some cases, it may also be necessary to manually delete the shortcut icon on the desktop and the demo folder on the start menu.

b.  On a Mac, just delete the Weightmania folder.

14.  The pie chart on the meal table appears incorrect.  What is wrong?

The pie chart shows the ratio of total fat, protein and carbohydrates.  By default, this is based on the weight of each nutrient in grams.  To change this to calories, use the radio button at the bottom.  When based on calories, 1 gram of fat equals 9 calories, 1 gram of protein equals 4 calories, and 1 gram of carbohydrates equals 4 calories.

15.  When editing a food, how do I change the number of servings?

When you search for a new food, select a food from your favorites list, or edit a food using the Input Wizard, you can change the number of servings by editing the "# Servings" box. By default it contains "1.0" (for one serving), but you can change it to any value including fractions. For example, to double the serving size, enter a 2. To cut it in half enter 0.5. After editing this box, wait 2 seconds and the food nutrients in the boxes below will update. Note, this is different from the "Srv. Size" box, which is used to enter a text description of the serving like "One Bowl".

16.  How can I separate cardio. workouts in the chart and statistics tool?  For example, I just want to graph 5 mile routes or analyze swimming data.

You can easily do this with the filter option.  The filter appears in the bottom right corner of the chart and statistics tool.  First, turn the "Cardio Filter" on (select the "On" radio button), then click the "Settings" button to create a filter.  The chart tool lets you create a unique filter for each graph displayed, regardless of how many graphs are shown.

17.  Is there a faster way to record meals and nutrients?

Here are some tips to save time recording meals.  In general, the process of entering and recording daily nutrition becomes faster over time.  Since most people eat the same 20 to 30 foods each month, it won't take long to build up a favorites list.  Weightmania can also search previous days to see if you already recorded a food.  Using the tools below, you will never have to enter the details of a meal or food twice.

a.  You can cut, copy and paste nearly everything including tables, tabs and forms.
b.  Use drag and drop to copy foods between the meal table and favorites list.
c.  Create predefined meal programs (lets you enter meals for an entire day in one click).
d.  Create a custom food database (lets you enter a foods and nutrients in one click).
e.  When using the input wizard to enter meals, select "journal" from the list of databases to search.  If you ever entered this food before, you can re-enter it in one mouse click.

18. I just purchased a download version. Where is the link to download it?

Thank you for purchasing our software! After you ordered, you should have received a confirmation email containing this information. Make sure this email was not accidentally forwarded to your junk or bulk mail folder. If you need it, we can re-send it. Just send us a note using our feedback form. We'll mail the link you need within 24 hours (in many cases we can respond in a few minutes). For faster service, please include your name, the email address used to order, the name of the product you purchased, and where you ordered it (this site, or the name of a third party site). Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused! We greatly appreciate your business.

19. Are you planning to add more foods to the built-in food database?

We're continuously adding new foods to the food and nutrient database in all our products. You can also add an unlimited number of custom foods (see the "Custom Food" option under the main Edit menu). Since most people eat the same 20 to 30 foods year round, it doesn't take long to add the foods you eat most often. You can then record meals in seconds by dragging and dropping foods from the favorites list on the right side of the journal meal table. This is created automatically. Upgrades to the food database are free for everyone.

20. I'm having trouble printing photos or tables. How can I fix or improve my printouts?

When printing tables (like the statistics, weight training or meal tables), right click directly on the table with the mouse (on a Mac hold the Control Key and press the mouse button). Select print from the popup menu that appears. This is also the best way to print photographs. In most cases, this will significantly improve the results. Our online, web-based products also offer an option to print workout and meal cards which are larger and easier to read.

21. What is my registration/activation code?

If you purchased packaged software, this code appears on the back or inside cover of the CD case. For downloads, this code appears in blue text at the bottom of the download page. If you lost this code, or did not receive one, just send us a note using our feedback form. We'll email you the code within 24 hours (in many cases we can respond in a few minutes). For faster service, please include your name, original email address, the name of the product you purchased, and where you ordered it (this site, or the name of a third party site).

22. Why doesn't my registration/activation code work?

First, make sure you are using the correct code. If you purchased packaged software, this code appears on the back or inside cover of the CD case. For downloads, this code appears in blue text at the bottom of the download page. All activation codes for Weightmania Pro begin with two letters. Weightmania Mobile codes begin with three letters. The rest are usually numbers. For example, "0" is zero not the letter "O". When you enter it, make sure there are no spaces before or after the code. If this does not work, just send us a note using our feedback form. We'll email you the code within 24 hours (in many cases we can respond in a few minutes). For faster service, please include your name, original email address, the name of the product you purchased, and where you ordered it (this site, or the name of a third party site).

23. Is there an upgrade available for my software?

To see if an upgrade is available, go to the main Help menu in your software and select "Check for Product Updates..." Most of our products now have this option. You can also visit this page directly by going to www.weightmania.com/updates.htm. Anytime a new product is released, the information on this page is updated. To determine your software version, select the "About" menu option. In Windows this is located under the main Help menu. On the Mac, this is under the "Weightmania Pro" menu.

24. Are upgrades free? How do I upgrade to the latest version?

If you subscribe to any online version (like Weightmania Pro Online), upgrades are free and automatic. For desktop software, we release several upgrades each year to correct issues and make improvements. Upgrades are free for the first 18 months after purchase. After that, you can purchase discounted upgrades. See Upgrades in our store. If your product is not listed you need to re-purchase the full version. Patches and bug fixes are always free. Following each release, our system automatically sends upgrade information to the email address provided at the time of purchase. This process can take up to 30 days.

NOTE: A previous, licensed version with the same title must be installed on the machine you are upgrading; you also need the original activation code. If you purchased an un-boxed, or older version from a third party site like eBay, you must purchase an upgrade.

To see if an upgrade is available for your product, see FAQ 23 above. If you are not receiving upgrade notices, please send us a brief note using our feedback form. We'll email you upgrade instructions. For faster service, please include your name, the email address used to order, the name of the product you purchased, and where you ordered it (this site, or the name of a third party site).

25. How do I activate the trial and convert it to the full version?

Currently there is no way to activate or convert any trial version or demo to the full version. You have to purchase the full version separately. NOTE: Any data entered in the Windows or Mac trial version can easily be transferred to the full version (see FAQ 31).

26. I get an "invalid database" error when I try to run this software. What is wrong?

This message indicates you did not download a complete copy of the software. It may occur even if the file you downloaded is short by a few bytes. Try downloading the file again at a later time. For best results try this in the early morning or late at night, when the Internet (and our servers) are less busy. If you still cannot download the software after three separate attempts, we can make arrangements to mail you a copy on CD.

27. I lost my software (i.e. my hard drive crashed). Can I re-download it?

If you purchased Extended Download Service (EDS) at the time of your order, you can re-download the original version you ordered again for up to two years (a copy has been stored on our server). Otherwise, you will have to purchase a replacement CD or download. To do this, go to our store and purchase an upgrade, then contact us and we'll send you a special activation code to unlock it. If your product is not listed, please contact us to order.

If you have Extended Download Service or any questions, please contact us using our feedback form. For faster service, please include your name, the email address used to order, the name of the product you purchased, and where you ordered it (this site, or the name of a third party site).

28. How do I transfer data from the 15-day trial version?

In the Windows version, go to the File menu and select "Import", choose "Weightmania Trial Version Database", then follow the onscreen instructions. On a Mac, use copy and paste under the main Edit menu to copy the "Databases" folder from the Trial version's folder to the full version folder. When prompted, select Yes to overwrite the new "Databases" folder with the old one. Another method would be to go inside the Databases folder and copy the individual files. NOTE: There is currently no way to import data from the Windows Mobile 15-day trial version.

29. Do you have an affiliate (reseller) program? How can I resell your products and subscriptions?

We operate our own affiliate program, which lets us pay more than competitors. Just add a special link to your fitness web site, and we'll pay you 30 percent for each product or subscription you sell. For subscriptions, we'll pay you 30 percent every month (or each billing cycle), indefinitely, for as long a user subscribes. If you own a high traffic web site or fitness facility, this is a great way to earn recurring revenue.

All affiliates get free technical support and marketing materials for their web sites. We process all the orders, handle customer support, and deliver the software. Signing up is free and you can quit anytime. For more information and to sign up, click on the link below. Note, all requests are subject to approval.

30. How do I cancel my online subscription?

Thank you for using our online software. If you subscribed using Payal, you can cancel your subscription by logging into your Paypal account (which you needed to sign up), selecting "My Subscriptions", then choosing the cancel option. Otherwise, call or contact us using our feedback form. Please note, we offer free training which includes showing you how to use the software and setting it up. Our staff will work with you for as long as it takes.

To avoid a fee for your next billing cycle, you must cancel before your next bill date. Cancellation is effective immediately. Although you will not be able to access your account, we will continue to store your data for 90 days. You can sign up again anytime. We apologize, but we cannot offer full or partial refunds for any billing cycle.
